In the aftermath of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the excise policy, his wife Sunita Kejriwal has broken her silence with a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, denouncing the move as "arrogance of power." In a strongly-worded message on X, she accused Modi of targeting the elected Chief Minister out of sheer hubris and attempting to suppress dissent.

"Modiji, you have arrested our thrice-elected Chief Minister out of arrogance of power. Your aim is to crush everyone," Sunita Kejriwal's statement on X read. "This is a betrayal of the people of Delhi. Your Chief Minister has always stood by you. Whether inside or outside, his life is dedicated to the country. The public knows everything, he is Janardan. Jai Hind (sic)."

Sunita Kejriwal's statement comes amid a flurry of reactions and actions from opposition leaders following Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. Congress MP KC Venugopal, TMC MP Derek O'Brien, and other Opposition leaders converged at the Election Commission of India in Delhi to protest against what they termed as "deliberate targeting" and "arrests of opposition leaders" by the ruling government.

In a separate development, the Enforcement Directorate produced Arvind Kejriwal in court seeking his 10-day custody. The court's decision on the matter is eagerly awaited by supporters and critics alike.

However, renowned social activist Anna Hazare expressed his disappointment over Kejriwal's arrest, attributing it to "his deeds." Hazare revealed that he had cautioned Kejriwal against delving into excise policy matters, emphasizing that the Delhi Chief Minister's actions had led to his own predicament.

"He got arrested due to his deeds. Had he not done anything, there was no question of his being arrested," Hazare remarked in an interview with PTI from his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra. Reflecting on their past collaboration during the anti-corruption movement, Hazare lamented Kejriwal's shift towards excise policy matters, indicating a perceived pursuit of monetary gains.

The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, a prominent figure in Indian politics, has sparked widespread debate, criticism, and support, highlighting the complex dynamics and power play within the political landscape.
